Description:

The bridge forms an important cycling junction and serves as a flyover for the roadside cycle path in the course of the B19. The design and width of the existing structure did not comply with the current recommendations for cycling facilities and had to be replaced.

In order to optimise the ramp inclinations and the freeboard, the new replacement structure was designed as a trough bridge. Special design requirements resulted from the bridge's location in the spa park: the shape of the bridge takes into account the forces in the supporting structure. The abutments also take up this shape. A lateral inclination of the main girders provides additional protection of the outer sides and a widening of the deck towards the centre of the bridge. Due to the structural design of the deck slab, it is possible to fully inspect the main girders.
