Description:

In a competition with a total of 15 teams, this complex design was awarded with a recognition by the jury. The supporting structure of this competition entry is formed in the main field by a beam girder in trough design; this trough supporting structure made of block-bonded glulam is designed over three fields as a continuous supporting structure with tanner joints. The main girders are located in the railing level and U-shaped steel frames secure the construction against tilting. Horizontal bracing is provided by the secondary wooden supporting structure between the steel frames, on which the covering of large-sized natural stone slabs rests.
The design draws its striking dynamics from the outwardly tilted main beams and the varying beam height. The trough structure rests on V-shaped steel supports, whose vertical elements are guided to the upper edge of the trough at the transition to the ramps, thus enclosing it.
The ramps are designed as a beam support structure with lower beams in the form of two solid block-bonded wooden beams. They are connected to the support by a steel cross beam, which is in the same level as the wooden beams and is rigid.
All steel parts are protected against corrosion by galvanization and coating.
The track covering consists of large-sized granite slabs with a thickness of approx. 8 cm. Granite - like wood, a natural material - underlines the value of the entire material concept. At the same time, it is highly durable and can be considered maintenance-free.
