Competition: "SBIR  - Sustainable Bridges"

Utrecht - NL März 2021

In a team around the company Mobilis, the planning office ipv delft, the companies Rutte Groep und Heko Spanten, Ingenieurbüro Miebach participates as a timber expert in the second stage of the "Strategic Business Innovation Research - Sustainable Bridges (SBIR)" of the supreme Dutch building authority Rijkswaterstaat.

The developed modular bridge system of prefabricated wood-concrete composite girders owes its good score on the environmental cost indicator EQI to the use of the materials wood (renewable) and concrete (recycled if necessary) - a 20% reduction of this value is currently estimated. The modularity of the system additionally allows the complete separation and other reuse of the various bridge elements after their useful life as a bridge structure.

From the 10 participating competitors in stage 2, three will be selected to realize their respective design as a small test bridge in stage 3. Finally, the best rated system bridge will be realized at different locations.
